The project and the team

We develop software for modern platforms and operating systems for leading networking equipment manufacturers, as well as various other cloud-native, containerized services and solutions.

We are looking for an engineer with a strong background in BSP/Platform engineering to help develop SONiC NOS for various hardware platforms.

What else you should know:

• The client is a global company with employees based in Europe, the US, and Asia
• The project will be managed by the client, but the Codilime Engineering Manager will be assisting in the project management and coordination
• Periodical sync calls with the customer may be required in the US-friendly hours (17:00 - 20:00)

Your role

As a part of the project team, you will be responsible for:

• Researching and defining how to implement client requirements and ideas best
• Taking part in technical discussions with the client
• Developing software mainly using C and/or Python
• Creating unit tests for your code, conducting code review, creating documentation, and taking part in other activities related to software development
• Fixing bugs efficiently and effectively, and finding workarounds for blockers
• Occasionally, taking part in technical pre-sales meetings

Do we have a match?

As a Software Engineer, you must meet the following criteria:

• Proficiency in C and/or Python programming
• Strong experience with Linux kernel and driver development
• Skills in virtualization, containerization, and microservices
• Experience with embedded systems and hardware knowledge
• At least basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, BGP, DHCP, Ethernet, etc.)
• English at least B2 level, C1/C2 preferred

Beyond the criteria above, we would appreciate the nice-to-haves:

• Experience with the SONiC operating system development
• Knowledge of orchestration agents, SyncD container, Switch State Service (SwSS), and Switch Abstraction Interface (SAI)
• Experience with networking hardware (switches, routers, etc.)
• Understanding of advanced networking concepts (SDN, SD-WAN, MPLS, VPN, VNF, VRF, etc.)
• Experience in working with Software Houses
